Make sure you're using latest chipset and graphics drivers.

Can you change the resolution in the intel graphics control panel? Is it a fresh install of Windows?

Are you using latest BIOS revision? You may also want to bump the ammount of shared graphics in the BIOS upto 128mb or 256mb

A graphics card will probably solve your problem. But you may just need to bump up shared memory ammount to 128mb or 256mb in the bios

Can't remember exactly, should be under 'uma frame buffer' I think. Or possibly even under 'shared graphics'. Just have a scout round your bios, should be fairly easy to spot

Hi mo_hari

I would rather say it's because of the driver bug, it's described here:
http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-028366.htm

with fixed driver available from:
http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-029955.htm

P.S. Method suggested by oggmonster requires change in:
Advanced BIOS Features -> On-Chip Frame Buffer Size
but I doubt if it solves this problem as G31 has dynamic allocated memory for integrated VGA
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

If the special driver did not help then try as follows:

install the latest G31 driver: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htm
use nice wizard: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/Unable_to_Select_Larger_Display_Mode.htm
read this: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022544.htm#max_mode

So you have bios F10 ?

Hi,
It looks like onboard will not support that resolution 1400x900,
Get yourself a graphics card,
A gigabyte ATI radeon 4670 will do everything includes the latest games, (not on full settings though) but it is the best bang for buck as they say,
Look around and it 's about £50 £60, if thats too much go for any of the 4 series cards,
Most of them will do dx10,
Merry Xmas
