ga-z68xp-ud3p: HDD not recognized
« on: November 20, 2012, 07:11:07 am »
hi this is my first build and I'm having a problem installing windows 7(32 and 64 bit) when i boot it it ask me to select a driver so it can access the hard drive(hitachi GST deskstar 7k11000(only have 1))

which i do by putting the gigabyte disk with the drivers on it and still nothing

i can see the hard drive on the bios(which is a F6) but none of the drivers on the disk will recognize it i have switched the bios to IDE AHCI and RAID but still nothing

when i have it on IDE none of the drivers on the disk will show up as compatible but when i have it on AHCI or RAID it will read one of the drivers that are in the AHCI and RAID(32 bit only never 64 bit) but once again the hard drive won't show

i would really like to install the windows7 64 bit if possible but ill settle for anything right now lol
any help would be greatly appreciated :)

If you have another computer that you can put your hard drive in as a second drive thats what you need to do. Boot into the OS and go to disk management. Then initialize your hard drive and then formatt it and try again. I have had that happen before  and it is because the disk hasnt been  initialized yet. If it isnt  initialized then the operating system wont be able to see it, once you do it then it should go right thru.

Hopefully you have a computer you can put it in to  initialize it and that should solve your problem.

Welcome to the Gigabyte Forum there are lots of people ready to help if this doesnt work but it has always worked for me.
