Corsair makes good PSU so no problem there. They pretty much all use a single 12 volt rail. As for will it at least boot here is the options. Upgraded processors one time and couldnt figure out why everything reported it as a single core then i found i needed a bios update was only 1 away as in i had the f-9 and needed the f-10.
Another time i upgraded a processor for a friend that he bought to put in his rig. Turned out it wouldnt boot with new processor so after doing a little research i figured i put in the old processor and update it and still no boot with the processor it had been working with for a year. Cleared cmos and tried everything i finally had to send it in under RMA and got it back 3 weeks later and put in old processor to check it all with but they sent it back with the newest bios so i just popped out old one and put in the new one and all was well.
Either of these can happen to you the question is do you want to chance it. Do you know someone with a chip that would work you could borrow or a computer shop that would do the update for you?
