Which RAM is recommended?
« on: December 28, 2012, 02:11:33 am »
Hi there, I want to upgrade my RAM to 16 GB and not sure if I can use 1866. The manual says  supported RAM is
4×240pin DDR3 1866(OC)/1333/1066
*To reach DDR3 1866MHz or above, you must install two memory modules and install them in the DDR3_3 and DDR3_4 memory sockets.

My sys is :
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD
BIOS: AMD 870 BIOS for GA-870A-UD3 F2
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 HDZ965FBGMBOX

PSU: stock with Sonata III case
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
OS: 64 bit Win 7 ultimate

thx in advance

Limitations state that board can only handle 16 gig total that is 4 gig per sockett. So 2 x 8 gig sticks just wont work.

Cant use 4 sticks of ddr3 at 1866 only 2 slot will support it. Google the motherboard and go to gigabyts site it will give you specs there.

It should be ok ,but personally i would buy a different brand and not Kingston.
Over & Out !

AMD FX (APU-s included) users should install - KB2645594 & KB2646060 under Windows 7

1.ASUS Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 + FX 6300 + H60
2.MSI A88X-G41 PC Mate + A8 5600K + Hyper TX 2
3.Gigabyte F2A75-D3H + A4 5300
4.ASUS AM1M-A + Athlon 5150
