GA-F2A85X-UP4 video issue
« on: January 11, 2013, 10:44:47 pm »
Howdy all my first post here. Kinda bummed I have to but here it goes. I've seen another thread on this subject but the other bloke was not helped as he came off as rude.  My issue is simply this. I can not see the bios on my GA-F2A85X-UP4 unless I have it hooked up via VGA on the on board VGA port. When I turn on IGPU it wont allow my 5770 to be used at all. Basically whenever I have an HDMI output hooked up while IGPU is active i cant use HDMI. Does anybody have any suggestions??

Cant use hdmi and the igpu at the same time. make sure you set default is OS as what you are using.

ok maybe I did not explain it clearly. At first I used only the IGPU. only port from onboard that would show bios is the vgs port. HDMI would not. I finally got windows loaded and updated using an old monitor with VGA on it. My monitor I use daily only has Display port and hdmi. After getting everything updated i tried using the on board hdmi port and no go would not display. It did not say no signal but had a soft glow like something was there but no pic. I finally went into the bios turned off igpu and installed a discreet gpu. I was finally able to use HDMI via the discreet gpu. But using the hdmi i can not see the bios at all. Now my only resource to get into bios is clear cmos so igpu is turned back on get the vga monitor back out remove my discreet gpu cause it wont work with igpu installed. does same as hooking to hdmi on board. go back into bios and do what I need and then reboot after saving changes shut down put discreet back in and check settings. As you can imagine this is a major PITA to do every time I want to access the bios.

Yes HDMI always has that problem of not showing bios because the drivers dont load until the OS loads. That i do know hopefully soemone can help with the other.

must be an issue with this board cause I have built 10+ computers using this DP and HDMI only monitor without any issues. Albeit this is the first UEFI bios I have done. And never have I had any issues with accessing the bios. I am an overclocker I use the bios regularly :D

Makes me wonder what type of keyboard you are using a ps2 board generally works better than a usb.

ps2 keyboard usb mouse issue isnt navigating in the bios but getting it to post up. I figured with this minor headache I'd just OC thru the eztune software but nope that buggered me as well. all i did was set my ran to 1866 (its GSkill 1866 ram) and rebooted per instructions and well back to square one.

Maybe gigabyte can take some action on this. It's impossible for the IGP to display the BIOS on HDMI and DVI. I have not tried VGA simply because I don't have a VGA cable. When in Windows the display still has no signal and when I unplug the HDMI and plug it back in it works. I had good expectations from this motherboard because of the known quality of Gigabyte, but this simple feature should just work! I can't even install Ubuntu with this because it doesn't load the HDMI in BIOS. Only in a fully loaded Windows the display works.

Please fix this!

done some more research on this (there's not a lot) and came across something on Tom's  site that suggests its more of an issue with AMD card. So I went and borrowed a Nvidia card from a friend and while its not perfect post screen I am able to access the bios and do what I want without having to change this cable for that and so on. This sux cause I just dropped 220$ on 2 6870's to crossfire on this board. ATM I cant even get an AMD card to boot into windows, and I have a couple laying about to try.
