GA-M57SLI-S4 rev 2.0 onboard lan issue
« on: January 20, 2010, 06:34:26 pm »
Hi all,

I bought a GA-M57SLI-S4 rev 2.0 about 1.5 yr ago and i started to have problem with the onboard lan. The lights are on but the one that is surpose to flash does not, unless i put a wireless lan card in and enable it then it starts flashing but if the wireless is disabled then the light stops flashing. In either concusion still the problem persists. If i set a static ip , i can ping the router (gateway) from the machine but if i ping that machine from another machine or request a ip via dhcp it does not responed. The wireless works when enabled though.

I have updated the bois , took the battery out of the board to set it back to default, and so on , also it happens on both windows and linux (my main os)

Does this mean the onboard lan is faulty

Many thanks

Not overly clued up on networking. But do you have a PCI (or even a USB) ethernet adaptor to see if you have the same problem. Also might be an idea to upgrade to the latest BIOS if you haven't already
