Help with Overclock on Z77 HD3 I7 2600k
« on: March 16, 2013, 03:43:48 pm »
Hi every one just joined the forum and would like to say hi to you all before i start asking for your help and advice on this situation which is pecking my head big time!

HEllllllloooooo Everyone and hope you welcome me to the site !!
I have just got a new system and would like to do a small over clock on it , my specs are:
Gigabyte Z77 HD3 Motherboard
Intel I7 2600k cpu
16gb Ballistick Memory 1600mhz
Sapphire 7950 Pcie graphics card
Corsair 500w Psu
Be quiet Cpu cooler with double rad
And coolmaster 690 II case
The bios on my Board is F2B

Cpu is running at 3.4ghz and upto 3.8ghz in turbo mode , i have run some prime95 tests and some Intelliburn test on standad , very high , maximum, my max temps were 56c at 100% load idle temps are 28c. ok here is the issue , i am going into my bios and setting the cpus on the turbo side to 42 on all 4 cores , the bios shows in greyed are that its at 4.2ghz , i dont adjust the baseclock i leave on 100mhz , the cpu ration is on 42 also , i then save settings and reboot into windows and the cpu still shows 3.4 ghz ? ???

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

here is 2 pictures i just taken , the one were cpu is at 3.5ghz is 100% load and as soon as i stop the Prime95 it returns to 3.8ghz? is it not meant to be the other way round? Produce more power on stress test and go to 3.8 and when idle go to 3.5?   ???

Ok all , just an update , I flashed my bios with the previous version which is F1 and my overclock worked instantly , i went upto 4.5 gb with voltages on auto and prime test temps were 65 max and voltages in CPUs were at 1.4 , I thought that this was high so manually set to 1.35v , I then ran intelliburn and PC froze and I got bsod , I have returned my voltage to auto and lowered my CPU back to 4.2ghz , is there any guru on here that can help me tweak my voltages and up my speeds to 4.5 for daily use or should I leave it at 4.2?
Thanks guys ;D
