GA-MA770 UD3 does not detect SATA devices

GA-MA770 UD3 does not detect SATA devices

Greetings,

I bought GA-MA770 today, aswell as Phenom X2 II 550 BE.

Anyway, as i finished connecting everything i turned on the computer.

After a few secs bios loaded  and a big message appeared

""DISK BOOT FAILURE. INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER""

So i started googling.


I've found something what appeared to be a solution. I connected my DVD drive to 4/5 sata port, then loaded failsafe configuration, then optimal and then save.

But it didn't help.



Here's what i have done so far :


i v bought new sata cables
i checked  the voltages, both my hard disk and dvd are getting enough of it
i tried  to boot dvd only, then hd only, then both
 i tried bios reset, didn't help
i've tried switching to AHCPI, didn't help
i connected the hdd and dvd on the second machine, the devices work

Does anyone have any idea what to do? Here's my setup

AMD Phenom X2 550
this mobo
Patriot LLK 2x2GB
GTX 260 SSC
Corsair 550W
Seagate Barracuda ES.2 32mb 250GB


Everything worked good today's morning on the old motherboard.

Im trying to get this fixed since 16 hours, i really run out of ideas  ???

When you boot up does bios recognise the HDD's? If the answer is yes then you will need to re-install/repair the OS. This message normally appears when the OS can't be located. Hope this helps.

Ooops, forgot to say, if HDD's not recognised in bios you will need to check that SATA controller hasn't disabled itself. It shouldn't happen but sometimes it can. In bios go to Intergrated Peripherals to check settings. You can also check Standard CMOS Features to see if your SATA Devices are being recognised. If all is OK then restart with OS Install Disk in DVD/CD Drive and the system should begin install of OS.

That's the thing. The SATA  is enabled, everything in bios looks ok.

The MB doesn't see ANY Sata drives at all.

I have tested the HDD and DVD drive on the second MB and they work fine.

This guy had excatly the same problem, but his solution doesn't work for me.


It's the fist time i have such a problem :/

Ouch! Sorry about asking some really dumb questions but are you getting any post beeps from Mobo?

Nope. No beeps from mobo. I was wonderig about this too, but then i thought that maybe there's no beep in this mobo :<


Btw,i tried new power supply. Doesn't work either :/

Have you gaot a Mobo speaker? This is something that you will need to hear post beeps. Not sure if there is one in your chasis but if not you can get one quite cheaply. You'll need to connect it onto the front panel header to hear post beeps.

Just another thought, have you got an old IDE drive or DVD/CD if yes try attaching these and seeing if they are recognised.

I do not have a mobo speaker. Il try to get one.


The bios loads normally, it lists PCI devices, but then when it comes to Veryfying DMI Pool data

I get this Boot Disk Failure error.

Processor, memory are recognized fine in the bios.

I connected a 800W Tagan power supply, but it didn't help.


Both DVD drive and HDD got power ( i measured it). They also work fine on the other MB.

And no, i do not have any old IDE devices...

Is Mobo properly grounded when installed into case? You need to make sure there is nothing between Mobo and Chasis standoffs to prevent grounding.

Bios is FD.

Mobo is installed solidly.


Btw, could it be a problem if i left 2-3 screws under the MB ? I don't mean normal scres, but those that MB is on, they prevent from getting MB-case contact.

Yes anything left under Mobo could cause problem. It could be causing short circuit or other issues!

Try updating bios to FG. Easiest way to do this is to download file from above link. Unpack the files and put onto a USB stick. When starting machine press the END key on keyboard to enter QFlash utility, locate the folder on the USB stick and follow onscreen prompts. (If not sure about this check User's manual)

Updating bios now.

Gonna also remove the unused screws. I didn't realize they may really be blocking something.

Funny thing is, that one of the unsed screws is near sata chips :X


EDIT

Bios updated. Stil didn't help. Should i update more to FG?

Yes, I would have gone straight to FG. Don't forget, after updating bios to reload optimized defaults!

Make sure you remove old Standoffs before restarting
