Z77-DS3H wont boot (none seen)

8 gig DDR3 1.5 V (2 sticks)
power supply 500W (Lepa)

Just got this yesterday and put it together, all new!

The machine starts, DVD light blinks,Hard drive light comes on, the fans come on, then stops and starts doing it all again, never seeing anything on the new monitor.

I have checked my connections, I have tryed booting with 1 stick of memory! I have tryed a USB keyboard and a ps2 keyboard to hit the delete key.

I have also turned the power off taken the battery out and shorted the 2 pins for clearing cmos for about 15 seconds.

I have not installed or tryed to install win7.

I have read in FAQ's that power supplys might not be enough.

I just went into the store and let the guy there pick out what he thought I needed.

My monitor is a 23" , its blilt in program has auto detect for VGA or DVI , I do not have a DVI cable! So connected the VGA cable. The built in program says DVI is default.   I did not get a book with the monitor  and only a VGA cable.

Any ideas?

I just looked at the box the mother board came in, I dont see a thing about it having video! Yet

The Video is built into the CPU (HD Graphics 4000) so you should be able to get visual. Have you checked all your connections.........Like the power cable for the CPU etc?

Yes! Just checked again, the small jack has 8 pins, look good all 8 in the board look good!  The large jack that goes to MB has 1 wire missing looks like it was made that way!
  I just check that plug its pin 17 thats missing and the book says that should be a ground!!!!!!!!!!!!1

CORRECTION: Its pin 20 and its should be -5V  !

Take to mobo back out of the machine and set it onto a box or something non conductive and try getting it to run there. Just want to rule out any shorting from the case. i know is a stuff around, but welcome to the world of trouble shooting!

The new case I got has metal stand off's screwed in the case, I placed the mother board on those stand off's , then with the supplyed metal screws held down the board, Those screws do come in contact with metal on the board

I think the missing wire is by design. You can check the PSU with the paper clip method, but make sure you plug a fan to it as to put it under some load.

I just did it!  Its the same , starts and shuts down, and keeps repeating! Any other thoughts?

Try the PSU test and if that is all good try just one stick of the ram in slot 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 just to rule out a bad ram slot

When trying the ram don,t forget to use both sticks alternately like try the first stick in slot one if that no boot then try the other one in slot one..........Could have a bad stick

I dont know what a power supply test is!

The book that came with my PS says I can disconnet every thing, then jumper the green wire to any black (no load test), then turn PS on! I could do that just to see if it quits running with nothing connected!!

Update: I just did the above test the PS comes on and continues to run without shuting off

I'll now move on the the 1 stick at a time test!
