GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ DDR3 1866 SLOW
« on: June 12, 2013, 03:26:40 am »
My RAM is slow. I can Boot the computer, I can run 3D games. When I load large drawing in Inkscape, the scrolling is slow and choppy but somewhat faster when I had 4GB ddr2 in my old PC with a x3 CPU. Also playing 2D game with large world runs slow.

I have the motherboards BIOS RAM multiplier set to 1866 and timing at 8-9-9-24. Should I just get lower speed RAM?

First i would loosen the timing on the ram i know you have it set to manufacture timings but try a little looser. like 9-10-10-25 and see what happens if that doesnt help lower ram to 1600 and report back what happened in both, make sure ram volts is 1.6. If you are still having problems lower ram to 1333 but with the 8-9-9-24 at first. Let us know the results please .

I tried all of that and it did not increase the speed of my large inkscape diagram scrolling.

The problem can be any of the components you have.It can be GPU overheating ,it can be some CPU throttling as well
Also Gigabyte AMD 9x0 chipset  boards tend to like kits of 4Gigs.

So this being said you will need to start swapping around components as the problem is complex.

I would say to start with the video card the troubleshooting.
