New 7870 OC no display or post
« on: April 27, 2013, 08:46:34 am »
I am now on 2nd gigabyte 7870 OC, RMA the first, and same problem again. I have a P67 motherboard and 2500k cpu. The MB is not gigabyte so I won't mention brand. I have done everything I can think of, and get no signal to monitor, tried 2 different, hdmi, dvi and analog through adapter. I have updated MB Bios, bought new 700watt PSU... I get NO HDD activity, no beeps.... just system fans as well as 7870 fans.

I have posted elsewhere, and commonly told to boot to bios using MB vga port, the P67 MBs do not support on chip gpu, NO vga port.

My question is, is there some KNOWN issue with this card and P67 motherboards. Also, I have had questions about Vbios ????

thanks, todd

just got my 7870 overclock and I am having the same issue. 2500k in a Asrock extreme 4 motherboard. Are you using the same one? Have you tried a videocard firmware update ?

I got exactly the same problems with a Asus P67P8 Rev. 3.0 and Intel i5 2500K after upgrading the firmware BIOS of my GPU.

Guys please try to deactivate the UEFI Boot on your Mainboard.

I couldnt boot after i upgraded my GPU to a newer Firmware and that was the case.

My PC wouldnt boot and i couldnt even get into BIOS.

If that is the case to this:

1. Take the battery of your Motherboard out for a CMOS Reset.
2. Boot into your Bios and somewhere has to be the UEFI Boot option.
3. Put that Boot option to an older boot method

Now your PC should boot.
