P55A-UD3 mobo won't startup with i7 860

Hi!
System specs:
CPU: intel core i3 540 3.07GHz LGA1156 socket
Motherboard: Gigabyte P55A-UD3
RAM: Kingston HyperX 4x2GB (8GB total) DDR3 1600 Mhz (currently working at 1333 cause of i3 proc)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6800
PSU: Power LC8650 650W

My computer is working fine, but since i do some gaming i wanted to make an upgrade and so i bought intel i7 860 proc with matching 1156 socket. I swaped em and my computer wouldn't startup even to boot part. It just runs all the vents for a second, then everything dies for 3 sec. And it keeps doing that.

I updated Bios to F11 and it still won't help. I tried running with no RAM inserted but it was all the same. Meaning it must be something with procesors compatibility either with main board, BIOS settings or with PSU, but I don't have enough knowledge to know which of these is the problem.

I later switched back to i3 and my computer works normaly again.

Any1 got any advice?

You could have a bad CPU. I have two P55 boards and they both have i7 CPU.

Well yeah, figured that's the last asumption I'm gonna make =) Hoped someone would come with great suggestion like setting something in BIOS and everything will magically work or something =P

No what is happening when you have a bad CPU it will act just like you have no CPU at all. To test this take the CPU out try it with no CPU installed. You should get the same thing as this or it might run a little bit longer. There is no magic setting sorry.

You could check the CPU socket to see if you have a bent pin. But where the i3 is working more likely not. Plus did you clear the cmos after you update it and then set default settings.

Will try that tomorrow, though i don't get any new answer with that then, i guess?

Checked pins, all fine and my comp working with i3 now, so it should be fine. Gonna try clearing cmos and setting defaults... That's the last thing i can imagine that could help.

One more thing... I suspect my power supply might be problem. It says on my PSU that at 3.3V it gives 28A... Maybe that's too low or i might need to set some settings in BIOS for proc socket with power supply or something... I don't know xD

I doubt the PSU is actually faulty.  The AMP output on the 3v rail is not going to keep you from booting with a 860, considering an i3 is working without issue.  No relation there.
