beep codes compressed GA-P31-DSL

beep codes compressed GA-P31-DSL

I got out an old PC that was idle for 6 months.
Firstly, it comes alive when the power supply is switched on, before the power button is pressed.
If I hold power button, it goes off, so I presume that is not faulty.
Furthermore, does not boot - nothing appears on screen.
Secondly, I get beep codes, but they sound like they are compressed by about a factor of 4.
So it is kind of like a short beep followed by 2 clicks. I never heard anything like this.
Although the pitch of the short beep seems normal.
I unplugged the drives, mouse, and only left one DIMM in it, but still the squashed beeps.
Finally, removed the CMOS battery for half an hour and swapped the graphics card, but
still the same.  So I conclude that the mainboard has demised.
I am just wondering - has anybody heard weird beep codes?
 :(
