GA-G41M-ES2L RAM problem

Hi, I have just purchased the Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L motherboard and on the product page on Gigabyte's website it claims that it supports up to 1066 MHz RAM modules but includes (OC) in brackets. Presumably this means overclocking? I have ordered 4 GB (2 X 2 GB) Kingston Hyper X Desktop RAM and wondered will the memory automatically run at 1066 MHz or will I have to alter any settings in the BIOS to achieve this speed? This is the 3rd Gigabyte motherboard I have had and although I am a fan of this brand, I am a bit disappointed with my latest purchase as it doesn't support RAID

I have installed the RAM and it seems to be running at 800 MHz instead of 1066 MHz. I'm beginning to think that Gigabyte have made some kind of misprint on their website - http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=3024
It clearly states "Experience the advanced technology of DDR2 1066(OC) memory, featuring faster speeds and higher data bandwidth, which delivers superior performance for the most demanding applications" yet the memory I installed only runs at 800 MHz. I submitted a technical support ticket nearly a week ago and still no one has answered my query. My estimation of Gigabyte is going down.

I have been exploring the BIOS settings and discovered that in the MIT (Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker) area there's an option for System Memory Multiplier (SPD) which has the following choices: Auto, 2.00B and 2.40B but when on Auto or 2.40B the memory runs at 800 Mhz and when set to 2.00B the memory runs at 667 Mhz. I'm really disappointed with Gigabyte at the moment and I have been using Gigabyte motherboards for the past 6 years too and I have to say that in the past 6 years I've not had many problems from Gigabyte motherboards but the technical support team seems to be much slower in responding to questions.

Does the board definatly support 4GB @ 1066mhz? If so you will need to alter RAM volts, Timings + the system memory multiplier. You may possibly have to up the FSB speed aswell. If it says DDR2 1066(OC) that means you're going to have to overclock a little to bring ram speeds up.

I'm using an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor 2.66GHz
I've been into the BIOS and found a page called MIT and I tried changing the System Memory Multiplier (SPD) but only 3 options are available: Auto, 2.00B and 2.40B. Auto runs the RAM at 800 MHz, 2.00B at 667 MHz and 2.40B ar 800 MHz. I also changed the voltage to 2.2V and changed the timings to 5-5-5-15 as advised on the kingston website. none of this seems to work.
EDIT the board can handle 8 GB maximum so 4 GB shouldn't be a problem and as a plus the RAM has scored 5.9 on the WEI page compared to the 4.7 I got from some Kingston 667 MHz RAM

Yeah looks like you're going to have to overclock your FSB, so when you raise the SPD that will increase too.

No matter what you read here, Gigabyte has a problem handling memory on its boards.  Peruse the topics and you'll see too many people with memory problems.  No one gives you a straight answer.

I've decided to run the memory at it's stock speeds to be on the safe side as I'm not brave enough to overclock my processor lol
