970A-D3P Issue with core unlocking
« on: September 24, 2013, 12:58:44 am »
I bought this new gigabyte board recently and after countless attempts of trying to unlock my extra two cores on my AMD 960T the board will not boot.
On my previous board I was able to unlock and turn this chip into a six core processor. Ran it at 3.8mhz as a x6 for over a year.

Every time I have selected the option for the board to unlock extra cores in the bios it refuses to boot and I am forces to reset cmos no matter what settings I change.

Does anyone have experience unlocking with this board or one similar?

Currently I have the chip set as a quad core running at 4.2mhz doesn't get above 40 degrees under load.
Would really like to get the other two cores to help with streaming.

Oh so it's a 790x chipset based mobo  ;) This one has the acc functionality (advanced clock calibration) which allows the user to easily unlock hidden cores of phenom II thanks to the southbridge sb750/710 which is directly linked to the cpu... Amd 8 and 9 chipsets haven't anymore this function and it's the manufacturer: Asus, gigabyte, msi... who have to edit bioses having this functionality... So to say that it's now more difficult to unlock hidden cores with newer mobos than older ddr2 Amd 7 series chipsets mobos  :-\ :'(
