GA-MA69VM-S2 Graphic Card and CPU change
« on: November 11, 2013, 05:33:54 pm »
Hey, I have an old PC with the GA-MA69VM-S2 motherboard, and I wanted to mildly upgrade it just to use it hooked up to my TV as a HTPC(for watching HD movies, music, and maybe playing some mediocre games, not the latest ones).

So, I saw that my PSU is only 350W, and maybe I'll also need to change that too.

Can you recomment me some compatible PSUs, GPUs, and CPUs?

Budget is not determined, but I don't want it too pricey. :)

Thanks in advance!

That is an AM2 sockett on your motherboard so the big question is what can you find to fit it. AM2 is an old sockett you would be better off and cheaper to get an am3+ motherboard and CPU.
I tried to find parts here in america for AM2 and they were costly and thats just the ones i could find. In the long run it would be cheaper to get a do it yourself machine or cheapo dell or something.
For just ram , cpu, PSU i spent almost 200 usd so i learned my lesson could of bought a combo deal cheaper and better.

He would be cheaper by going the FM2 /+ way.
AM3+ is a dead end and should be used  only for 6 or 8 cores CPU-s.

So get a FM2+ compatible board and some APU from the A8 or A10 series.
The integrated GPU is quite good.

February next year AMD will launch the FM2+ APU-s that will have a big increase in performance compared to what we have now on the market.Getting a FM2+ board will make you future proof in this aspect.

Power sucked by a FM2 CPU is way under 300W ( usually 40-190W , on my 5600K) ,if no video card is used.

Something like a 5600K apu will feed a dedicated video card no problem.
8 gigs of RAM with higher than 1600Mhz speed recommended ,along x64 bit OS for more RAM allocated for the integrated GPU on the APU.
Overclocking is easy on this ones.
