New Gigabyte B75M-D3H MB on-board video failure

New Gigabyte B75M-D3H MB on-board video failure
« on: November 17, 2013, 01:08:54 am »
The MB is a B75M-D3H.  I just built it and the on-board VGA & DVI doesn't work so I cant get to bios or install my system..  I get one long and 2 short beeps indicating a display or graphics error.  I don't have a PCI or PCEe card to try just the on-board graphics.   Here is the rest of the system, I disconnected the drives so I wont list them.  Intel processor I5-3350P LGA 1155, 2 sticks of matched 4GB Corsair DDR3 1600.  I installed the memory in slots 1 & 3 per instructions but have tried single sticks in each just in case of a memory problem.  Other than abandoning the on-board graphics is there a solution?

I could be wrong but that CPU might not support graphics. You board doesn't really have onboard graphics.

The CPU has the graphics and by what I'm reading from intel spec that CPU doesn't support onboard graphics.

I have used Intel 1156 processors in Intel and Asus MB's and had no problem with on-board graphics. I doubt the newer 1155 would be any different.  Interesting thought but I think there would be an outcry since this Gigabyte MB is made for the1155 processor.

This is from newegg on your board:

Onboard Video
Onboard Video Chipset - Supported only by CPU with integrated graphic

Plus the 1156 CPU and board were old school that is why they came out with the 1155. The 1155 CPU are made up with 4 core.

Two of the cores are for the CPU and two of the cores are video and audio.

The N/A means that it has no GPU Frequency. You need the GPU Frequency  in the CPU for it to work. Plus this is from the CPU support list at Gigabyte.

The more I research this the more likely dmdilks is correct.  In all the years I have built desktops and servers I have never seen integrated graphics not work because the processor, specified for that MB, didn't support it.   I also find it very strange that a carefully worded Google search brought up lots of similar issues but none suggested the processor.  So, I will install a PCIe card and let you know.  Maybe after I install the OS and the MB drivers the integrated graphics will work. Thanks

I'm not trying to sound smart but your CPU doesn't not support graphics. In today's world of motherboards and CPU's you need a CPU that supports graphics to get it to work with the video connections.

Once you load windows you still will not have onboard graphics. You need a CPU to get it to work. One day very soon all boards will be that way.

There are still some you still need a video card. The Intel 1155, 1150 & AMD FM socket boards work that way.

Things have come a long way from the old Intel 775,1156, that had onboard graphics.
