Driver issues while overclocking r9 280x
« on: November 20, 2013, 03:57:44 pm »
Hi Guys, So i got a R9 280x yesterday. i downloaded the latest drivers from amd (13.11) Everything is fine when i play BF4 on the stock clocks, but right when i bring the speeds up a little and when the game loads, i either get a Blue screen, or it would crash to desktop (black screen), show direct x error, show Firefox crash and display the Ati "Driver stopped responding" window.

I'm wondering if this is truly a driver issue, or an issue with my hardware  :-\

Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
PSU: 700 Watt
CPU: FX-6100 OC @ 3.60  Turbo@4.0
Mobo: MSI-7641
GPU: Gigabyte R9 280x

Thanks!

I haven't had my cards for very long, I have the OC windforce edition. But I did try once to OC the cards by 10%, stock they run 1100/1500. And I had a blue screen straight away, it was odd because it wouldn't have had time to overheat that quickly.

But also I found something very odd, find a game that's already high end, go manually in the drivers set everything to 16xEQ, 16AF, high quality and multisampling and see if you cards start to really increase in temps. Mine are cooking atm :( 97 degrees with the fan on 100%
