Hi Ray

just check requirements of the video editing software you are using regarding VGA card. As GeForce 6200 turbo cache was really entry level (slow) card.
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

I suggest getting something on the lines of the HD4850 / 9800gtx+. They are fairly low power consuming cards which should be plenty for video editing for a good few years.

Do you do anything else such as transcoding/gaming? The 9800gtx+ is able to GPU transcode, which is much faster than letting the cpu do it. For example, my GTX295 beats the Core i7 @ 4.35Ghz at transcoding a movie.

What is your budget? Is that 300W just for graphics or for the whole system?
Core i7 965 @ 4.35Ghz 1.37Vcore
6Gb G.Skill 1600Mhz DDR3 @ 1740Mhz 8-8-8-20 1T
HIS HD5970 @ 800/1100

hi badbonji the 300watt is the size of the installed psu so i guess it is for the whole system.

Would you be able to get a 500 watt PSU? I would consider ATi's 4000 series for an affordable range, depending on your budget. But make sure you have a big enough PSU, especially for the 12V rails.

There are a remarkable variety of graphics cards on the market aimed at gamers. While the very latest technology is always expensive, there are also solutions for those who don't have hundreds of dollars to spend. These video cards were selected because they are good values in their class, and they are ordered roughly from fastest (most expensive) to slowest (most affordable).
