GA-990FXA-UD3/G.Skill Memory/Voltages???
« on: December 15, 2013, 09:08:15 am »
I recently upgraded the memory G.Skill Trident: F3-1866c8d-16GTX 1.6v kit. I set the speed up to 1866 in Bios & set the timings as per the specs at CL 8-9-9-24. I left the voltage at what the MB auto selected which was 1.5v. Everything ran perfectly! However, the specs on in the memory sticks call for the voltage to be 1.6v. So, I went back into BIOS & manually set the voltage to 1.6v. Everything is still running just great.

The question? Which should I use, 1.5v or 1.6v? Are there some advantages to 1 over the other?

I could use a little enlightenment here if anyone care to share.

Thanks allot & have a super day!!!

Jim

I would use the 1.5 unless you have issues then i would bump it up. I have mine at 1.5 and i use 1.6 ram with no issues.
