GA-870A-UD3: 3 continuous beeps
« on: July 07, 2010, 10:03:58 am »
Hi guys. First i'm not sure where to post this as im not sure the cause, moderator please move if in the wrong section.

I'm having trouble starting my computer. Sometime i get it started no problem at all, but i cant restart or shut it down because i get 3 long beeps at post.

Currently i cant get it too start at all now. I have tried removing the RAM 1 stick at a time untill there was none in the board, even with no stick it was the exact same beep code.

The mobo manual says that the beep code mean 'graphic card not inserted properly' so i tried  re-seating it but still the same. But it should be inserted fine as when it works, it works fine.

When it does boot everything is fine, i have been repeated restarting it to get by but now even that wont work.

I'm using a gigabyte 870 board, new after 3 RMA's already
Any ideas.

Thank you.

Well the first thing I need you to do is list all your hardware so I am not guessing.
The only thing that springs to mind straight away is the PSU. What power and make is it?

You still haven't answered my question regarding what PSU you are using.

No problem, mystic, next time just read my mind ;D

Well on the face of it the power supply should be powerfull enough to run your rig and at least it's a good quality one. Just to go through the obvious have you made sure that you have all the power plugs in securely, eg motherboard main and extra 12v, power card's PCIe power, and all cooling fans power connections?

Have you removed and then re-seated the graphics card, making sure it clicks into place?
