X79-UD3 Won't Post

So I followed your instructions to disable hyperthreading in order to update my bios. Lo and behold, the system won't even post now. I'm currently following instructions from another thread to try and remove the battery from the motherboard.

The real question here, is why do you not warn people about this? Don't you think that it's a little insane to require me to disable hyperthreading and not warn me that your motherboards aren't capable of posting normally once this is done?

This 5 minute ordeal just turned in to a half day project. You need to warn people about crazy things like this, especially when you yourselves recommend it.

Edit: Oh and who wants to remind me what all of my settings were now that I have to reset to factory defaults? Unbelievable.

So after all that, I get it to finally post again and it turns hyper threading back on to auto by default. Disabling it again causes the exact same issue and fails to post.

So lesson learned: Apparently if you have the X79-UD3 board and want to update the Bios, you can't because updating requires hyper threading be disabled and doing so bricks the box.

Let see here that I have updated the bios on two x79-UD3 boards and a x79- UP4. Plus where does it tell to do that.

To update the bios just go in and set the cmos to default settings save and exit. Than go back and use Q-flash.

Put the new bios on a flash drive and plug that in before you boot up. Once the update is done it will tell you to shut down.

Unplug the power than clear the cmos and pull the battery. Wait 5 mins put the battery back in unclear the cmos.

Boot up again go in and set it to the default setting save and exit. Then you back in and setup the bios like you had it. plus check the date and time.

Clearly states you must disable hyperthreading to update the @bios.

I think they talking about doing the update through windows. Like I said I have done bios updates on all three of my X79 board.

I have never disable hyper threading. If you want to do it that way that is up to you. I would never do a bios update through windows.

I have been doing bios updates for almost 20 yrs. I have always done them through dos or the bios itself.
