Z68AP-D3 Rev. 2.0 Manual
« on: February 16, 2014, 09:37:56 am »
Hello All,

My Asus MOBO developed a fault in the PCI section. Since I have a PCI analog capture card I had to have a MOBO with at least 2 PCI slots.
Having a look around I picked the Z68AP-D3 Rev. 2.0. I am quite happy with the performance, after tweaking the BIOS settings almost by guesswork.

The manual that have been supplied have almost nothing to do with the BIOS settup options. It had references to the Award BIOS not the one on the MOBO which is UEFI DualBIOS by American Megatrends.

I am compleatly dissapointed with this matter and hope that somebody can direct me to a site where I can download the propper manual for this motherboard. Thanks in advance.

If you got it new it should have come with 2 books. One with color cover and one that looks like a thin paperback.

The thing is this board really didn't start out with the UEFI bios. They just added that last year. So if you got those 2 book that is it sorry.

Thanks for your reply.

They shoud at least  issued a suppliment. Because with the provided manual you can't do much. I have had a problem with setting the priority on the drives CD/DVD first, HDD (with OS ) second. It took me quite some time to figure out that in order to have the BIOS boot in this order I had to set to Legasy. Somting that it is not explained in the supplied manual.

I suppose it is impossible or quite risky to go back to the previos non UEFI bios.

The only thing you can do is look at this board and download the manual. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4148&dl=1#manual

I know it isn't your board but it help to understand the UEFI bios. Most of the bios are about the same from Z77, Z87 & X79 boards.

They are laided out about the same. I understand where you are coming from. Yes they should have made another book for that bios.

That manual will give you the basic understanding of you new bios. Plus with that UEFI bios you can use 3.0 video card as long as you are using a Ivy bridge CPU.

Plus this might help you and PM this guy he might help you out better too. http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,13818.0.html

Hi,
Thanks again for your support. While having a look around I came across your sugested post. Must say it is very good reading. However my reply to that post explains the way I am thinking of going.

On the other hand I have also managed to sort out an other problem which affected my analog video capture card. I had to tweak a setting in the power section in order to get my capture card perform without having horizontal streaking.

I am not really interested in having more than 1 off board graphics card which I already have and is a good match for my capture card. I am using an off board grapghics and sound cards, In order to get the best I can while capturing.

The manual for the GA-Z77P-D3 should fill the gap !

I read your post and like shadowsports said try and work with what you have. This will give some understanding of the UEFI bios.

Because everything forward does have the UEFI bios. That is why I said look at the Z77 book. Even if you have to print some page out. It will be pretty close to what you have.

I have had a bash at the setting again and everyting appears to be working fine. So I guess I leave it at that.
