Z87X-OC Bios F5 issue.
« on: July 19, 2013, 06:07:28 pm »
There is something wrong with the F5 Bios, i been using F5q before and suffered from the same. And the issue seems to be in the Final version of F5 aswell.

What happens can be compared to a "Driver has stopped responding" issue. Screen goes black then comes back on, but the Framerates are completely screwed up (10-15).

When it happend when i used F5q i first thought it was a TDR issue, but after rebooting the PC the Framerates in Games were still between 10-15. The only way to fix it was to flash the Bios back to F4. I used that for like 4 weeks without a problem. Today i saw the final of F5 was out and thought id try that again, but just 5 minutes ago the same happend and once again rebooting doesn't solve the problem.

No idea what the issue is, but i'm going back to F4.

Just found out more people are having the same issue with F5 and NVIDIA cards.

Semi-related: I have the Z87x-UD5H and have had this issue with the F6j beta bios, trying the F5...

I have a Nvidia 680 card using the latest drivers, whql and beta and keep getting driver stop responding and needing to reboot to get performance back, seemingly at random very frustrating.

Well in my case rebooting doesn't fix the problem. The card does go to 100% clock speeds but ingame the Framerates are below 20's.

The other guy who has the same problem with F5 on the Z87X-OC tried older NVIDIA drivers but that didn't matter.

The only way to fix is to flash to an older Bios.

I gave F5 another try and set the PCI-E to Gen2, so far i havn't had a Black Screen issue anymore.

So whatever changed between F4 and F5 it doesn't allow me to run Gen3 with my current Videocard.

 Atleast it works.
