Can't access bios on a brand new F2A88XM-HD3

Can't access bios on a brand new F2A88XM-HD3
« on: February 18, 2014, 01:12:25 pm »
Hi, i've just finished to build my new htcp system.
When it boots, I' can't access any bios functionality, not with DEL neither with F12 or F9. Pressing these keys only result in a black screen with mouse arrow on the center of the screen. Then mouse cursor disappears and  shows itself in right part of the screen. Screen becomes a little darker and nothing more. No way to move mouse pointer.

It's a little strange because i've tried with a test WIN7 hard disk and I can access to user selection screen at windows startup.

My configuration is:

F2A88XM-HD3
APU: A10 6700
RAM: g.skill ripjaws-X F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL
PSU: PICO-PSU 150XT
System HD: SSD Mushkin 60 gb
Storage HD: WD CAVIAR GREEN 2Tb
Case: THERMALTAKE Armor-A30
Heatsink: Noctua NH-L9A
Other: ANTEC VERIS VFD PANEL

Waiting for an answer, I will try with minimum setup and see what happens.

have you tried resetting CMOS?

Done, nothing new, even pulling out cmos battery for one minute
Minimal config with mobo on a insulated wood panel and system disk, outside the case.
I've changed also psu, same problem... Time for RMA?

The problem you have usually occurs when you are using a USB keyboard.  When I had this problem I changed all
of my desktop computers to PS/2 and haven't had the problem again.

I will try even this, but an HTPC without wireless keyboard it's not the best solution....

I have some Zip drives too, do I have to change all of my desktop hard disks to zip?

Sorry, I don't know really what to do and I've started feeling down

The PS/2 keyboard will only be needed to access BIOS, a USB keyboard can be used for normal usage

Ok, ok, I'll try. I've only had Asus mobos until now, never seen this kind of issue...

Having the same issue, recently build my system, installed os without an issue with all up-to-date drivers.  System was running fine then today I switched it on and nothing, I get a black screen with a mouse pointer.  Disassembled the system to basic components but still nothing.  thought it might be the bios since I cannot access it so reset cmos, still to no affect though the dual bios feature hasn't actually kicked in to restore the bios so at a loss.  Contacted gigabyte to seek advise but anticipate I will have to RMA the board.  So annoying as I was careful when builind it and installing software to ensure it was all done correctly, even restarted when it told me to  :(

The only resolution supported by UEFI is 1280X1024. Your display must be capable of using this resolution. This resolution may not be available on some TV sets.

You need to use the D-Sub port. I've heard that the DVI to VGA adapter also works.
1) GA-Z97X-Gaming 7, G3258,
2) GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 1.1, FX-8350
3) GA-AM1M-S2P, Sempron 3850 Kabini

You need to use the D-Sub port. I've heard that the DVI to VGA adapter also works.

Such adapter doesnt work on the native DVI output ,the one that outputs the APU video signal.
That is why when buying AMD FM2/+ one should buy a board that has the outputs usually used or all 3 of them.
Over & Out !

AMD FX (APU-s included) users should install - KB2645594 & KB2646060 under Windows 7

1.ASUS Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 + FX 6300 + H60
2.MSI A88X-G41 PC Mate + A8 5600K + Hyper TX 2
3.Gigabyte F2A75-D3H + A4 5300
4.ASUS AM1M-A + Athlon 5150

I can access it fine with my monitor via HDMI & DVI, the res is only 1440x900
