Brand new GA-970A-DS3P No Post, no beeps.

Hi all,

Recent bought a few new components, ran into problems. Components are as follows:

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
CPU: AMD FX-8350 (On supported list)
RAM: 2 x 4GB Corsair Vengence 1866Mhz (On supported list)

Old (reliable/swappable components) tested in other machine
PSU: CiT 700w
GPU: Nvidia 9500GT (don't laugh, will get upgraded soon)

Other details: Mobo speaker works (plugged in and tested on other rig)

First test:
All above components fitted to mobo, no display on monitor, no beeps.

Second test:
CPU, RAM fitted. No beeps (No display due to no socket)

Third test:
CPU fitted. 1x4GB ram fitted in DIMM 1. No beeps

Forth test:
CPU fitted. No ram, no beeps

Fifth test:
No components. No beeps.

EDIT: Reseated CPU between several tests (even changed the cooler (got spare) but no dice. CPU fan spins, thats all I get)

Don't know what else to try. Assuming I'll have to RMA it to where I bought it from (ebuyer).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you need more details I will happily provide.

The motherboard requires two power connectors: 24-pin ATX & 4-pin ATX_12V. I assume you have both of these plugged in.

If you have double checked all your connections then I would suspect the power supply since it not the best quality.
It may have worked on your old system but may not be good enough for your current system which has a 125W CPU.
The only way to find out for sure is to try a different power supply to see if that makes a difference.

If I, for example, got a 750w Corsair PSU: http://www.ebuyer.com/429987-corsair-cx-series-cx-750m-atx-power-supply-cp-9020061-uk

That should provide enough power on the 12v rail to allow me to tell if it all works?

A 600W quality power supply is more than enough for that system.
More is needed for dual card configs.

You should test the CPU in some other compatible mobo also.Maybe a friend can help you with it.

Will get it all tested if the PSU doesn't solve it.
