GA-H55M-USB3 Mother fails to boot with replacement RAM
« on: April 13, 2014, 02:07:56 pm »
Hello,

I am attempting to find replacement RAM for my GA-H55M-USB3 Rev.1 motherboard.

The RAM I have purchased has the following specs:

8GB Kit* (2x4GB) - DDR3 1600MHz
Part Number:  KVR16N11S8K2/8
Specs: DDR3, 1600MHz, Non-ECC, CL11, 1.5V, Unbuffered, DIMM

The machine powers up and I hear a single beep indicating successful POST, I am able to enter the BIOS, however the system fails immediately upon attempting to load the OS (Windows 8.1).

I cannot find any source which will confirm whether or not the memory is compatible. I don't want to flash the BIOS unless I'm sure that will fix the problem.  Is there any what to confirm whether or not this RAM should work?

Hello,

Just a quick update.  I have flashed my BIOS to the latest release (F11).  The machine will not boot with the new RAM.  I have even tried booting it with both the old RAM and new RAM installed, hoping it would step down to the earlier RAM, no dice.

Can anyone recommend some reasonably priced RAM that is compatible with this motherboard??  My goal is 16 gb of RAM, I believe the slot can only support a maximum of 4gb sticks, so I am looking for 4x4gb.

Thanks.

Can anyone help me with this?  Find replacement RAM for this POS motherboard is proving to be IMPOSSIBLE.

All of the 4 gig sticks listed on the compatibility list as out of stock:

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-h55n-usb3.pdf

I currently am running the following 4 gig stick which I know works:

Kingston KVR133D3E9SK2/8G

I have attempting buying two different models of RAM which have virtually identical specs but every time I try to boot the machine it crashes once the BIOS has handed off to the OS.

Was there some kind of revolution in DDR3 technology that caused the whole world to stop producing RAM that was compatible with my motherboard?  Where the &#$%# can I go to find an answer to this question if I can't find it on the Gigabyte forum???

How are setting up the memory in the bios. On Intel boards all you should have to do is set it to profile one. Don't change anything else.
