Mouse problem with my Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 V1.0

Mouse problem with my Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 V1.0

I run Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 SP3 and keep it up to date from Microsoft and run various spyware and AV software.

I find though that at least once a day the mouse pointer will  suddenly jump instantly to the bottom left of the screen and I have to move it back to the centre. Other than that I have no problems.

I use a wired optical mouse plugged in straight into the PS/2 socket and I assumed it was a faulty mouse. But on trying another I find it still does this.

Can Gigabyte tell me if there is a hardware problem with the mouse controller with this board?

Using BIOS F7.

Did you try a USB mouse? Would be the easiest way to see if its a PS/2 problem.

Interesting idea.

I'd have to go and purchase one.

I'll see if I can borrow one.

Do you know if this Mobo has a PS/2 problem?

Gigabyte haven't gotten back to me yet.

Not that i'm aware of, you may possibly have a faulty PS/2 port like you say. Would be good if you could borrow one, saying that USB mice are cheap enough these days and generally come in handy :)
