GA-H55M-D2H icm samsung EVO 120GB, hangs on 'loading operating system'

I've recently got my hands on an old (refurbished) GA-H55M-D2H,

and it works fine? i use a very basic setup.

Setup:
Case: it's not in any case (at the moment), i'm going to build one later one.
Memory: 1GB of 1333HZ GB corsair DDR3
Cards: no extension cards
HD: Samsung EVO 120 GB sata and or sata regular HD
CD: DVD player, IDE

now i find that the board hangs when trying to boot from the Samsung SSD.
I use the basic bios setting (for now, want things to work properly first before i change)
After discovering the it's failure to boot i qflashed the bios from F3 to F4 with no prevail.
it does boot from the regular HD, (at least gets to windows, need to reinstall windows on there, but that is a different option)
the bios does recognize the SSD
when i boot from the DVD-player, i can start the windows installation, but on reboot it hangs again before it actually gets to the os.
i've looked online and found many 'hangs on loading operating system' problems for the gigabyte mainboard and non so far from any other manufacturers.
i've tried all onboard SATA slots, use standard IDE, but checked AHCI also.
I have an older PSU, which is 20pins, but I have also tried an 20 to 24pins converter, also to no prevail.

does any of you have any idea why it hangs on booting the samsung evo ssd?

grtz

I just spent 15 minutes reading threads on this issue the thing I found strange EVERY motherboard manufacture was mentioned not just gigabyte.

Your best bet is to secure wipe the SSD then afterwards try to install it if that doesn't work install it to your other hard drive and see if that works. So first rule out hard drive then run memtest and rule out memory then I might agree with motherboard.

Most people solved this by using a different hard drive one I saw was he had a had a bad  DVD  drive and used a USB drive to install it with.

thank you for your respons,

strange? personally i didn't find any other brand. but than again, my search might have been to focused.

in the mean while i've actually found the problem! your suggestion to start from scratch worked out.
apparently the wrong partition was active. seems a logical thing seen from hind sight, but what i still don't understand is how it could have worked on my older mainboard.

anyway... thanks very much for your advice!

kind greatings
