Low Sound From Speakers

Low Sound From Speakers
« on: September 01, 2014, 06:31:52 am »
I'm having problems figuring out why the sound is VERY low from my speakers but good when I use my headphones.

I'm not a novice when it comes to computer but this one has got me beat, It first started when my 5.1 amp suddenly cut out one night while watching a vid on youtube so I switched to my headphones and the next day after turning on my amp the sound was ok for about an hour then cut out again for good this time so I figured the amp had blown and I plugged my speakers into the plugs on the back of my motherboard and I could hear sound but it was very low barely audible even after doing a driver update and setting all the controls to max, so I switched from win 7 to win 8.1 as I have a duel boot system and the sound was still very low.

I even tried an old PCI Sound Blast Audigy 2 card I had laying around and tied that after disabling my onboard sound but still low sound so as a last attempt to figure out the problem I installed a fresh install of win 7 on another drive then updated all the latest sound drivers from the realtek website but still very low sound and the only way I get sound is to use my headphones or plug my back speakers into the headphone socket on the front of my case.

I have a GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 board

Sounds to me like it is a speaker problem. Your best bet is to try a different speaker set up not the ones that you are using now. It could be the speakers with your 5.1 amp could have something blown on them when your amp went out.

No Defiantly not the speakers because I've tried them by plunging them into the headphone  socket on the front of my case and also tried them on my Mini Mac,  Having built my own computers for so long I'm 90% sure it's got something to do with the board but what it is I'm at a lost to know.

It could be something with your motherboard but to rule out speakers it would be best to try a set that  works properly thru the amp. If you can rule that out then because you have done a fresh install and the rest of troubleshooting it would have to be the motherboard.

I did try the speaker on the amp but it was only using the  radio thats built into the amp and the sound was fine and I don't have anther PC that has an optical input so am unable to test it on another computer.

I've sent an message to eSupport explaining  my problem so perhaps they mite be able to help
