Hi folks

Had to put together a low end system for my nephew for uni but no joy getting it to post.

Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Socket FM2+ AMD A88X DDR3 mATX
Crucial 2GB (1X2GB) DDR3-1600
Toshiba 3TB SATA 6Gb/s 7200RPM 64MB 3.5" Hard Drive
AMD A6-5400K 3.6GHz FM2 1MB 65W
Creative A250 2.1 PC Speaker System
Arctic Cooling MX-4 4gm Thermal Paste /
Samsung 24x SH-224DB DVD-RW SATA OEM
HannsG HL205ABB 19.5" 1600x900 5ms VGA Black Monitor
Cherry Entry Level keyboad blk USB
V7 Standard PS2 Optical Mouse (M30P20-7E)

I assembled the system, power is getting to the board, cpu
fan is spinning but the monitor isnt detecting anything.
I tried testing with 4 sticks of the crucial 2gb RAM and
I reset the BIOS, double checked the seating of all items to no avail.

I then went through the depressing task of stripping down my
own system, testing with my PCI Express Radeon, my own
sticks of Ram, own AMD APU and my own 800w power supply
but still no joy.

At that point, I figured, it's gotta be the board, I cant figure on
it being anything else, so the replacement arrived today
and once again, no post. I honestly cant face the idea
of stripping down my system and testing all of my
own components again, so before trying that, is there some
compatibility problem I need to know about between the
AMD A6-5400K 3.6GHz FM2 1MB 65W  and the motherboard?

Also, the generic 500w power supply that came with his case
only has 1 4 pin connector for the CPU, does that CPU require
2X 4 pin connectors to boot?  Pretty lost at this point.

Cheers for any help
Noel.

Gigabyte recommends a 500 watt or greater power supply on page 23 of the manual. I certainly would not use a generic model.

For 4 pin ATX connection use pins 3,4,7,8 only.

The screen resolution may be a problem if you are using an incompatible screen resolution size.
1) GA-Z97X-Gaming 7, G3258,
2) GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 1.1, FX-8350
3) GA-AM1M-S2P, Sempron 3850 Kabini

Thanks for responding tiger.

The PSU that came with the case is a 500w supply, though as you rightfully point out,
not a branded one. What I did do however was test without the CD-Rom and hardrive
connected and with a single stick of RAM rather than the intended 4.

The CPU Fan spins up but no monitor detection, I have tested 2 monitors and I know
they both work fine. The motherboard is not giving off any beeps either.

I have tested the 2 and only ATX connection options the PSU will facilitate to no avail.

I guess my only option now is to strip down my own system all over again and test with
the Corsair 800w supply, my A10-6800K CPU, my own and superior RAM and my Radeon
PCI Express card. >:(
