GA-x58a-ud7 mobo fried, any help for possible fix ?
« on: November 20, 2014, 08:31:54 am »
My good old ga-x58a-ud7 suddenly would not power up. That is: fans spin for a brief moment, then dead.
Changed to new 750 w psu, reflashed bios, reset cmos. Did not help.  Disconencting all sata and pata, then it will start and show the bios ok !!  But as soon as I connect power to one sata, or even a FDD, is powers down.  Any hope for fixing this mobo ??
Recent development:  Attached a second psu to power the sata-unit.  Did this AFTER having startet the mobo, standing in bios.  Then I did a reboot, and fans where still spinning ! And now it booted the sata !  Powered down,  disconnented the second psu, attached the sata-unit to the same psu as attached to the mobo, and started.  WOW, fans spinning,
it booted the sata, everything seems to be working !!!!
Did the second psu "reset" things ?  If so, what did it reset ?  Hardware component or cmos or whatever ?
Can anyone explain ??
