GA-H97 Game 3 BIOS setup freeze
« on: November 29, 2014, 08:19:58 am »
Just got myself the GA-H97 Game 3 running with intel i5 4460.
Had a hard time trying to config the BIOS as it keep freezing up after a short time of inactivity (<1min) :(.
This happened on stock BIOS ver:F3 as well as the latest ver:F5 that I installed.
Anyone has experience BIOS setup freeze/lockup on Logitech Motherboard ?
Any solutions?
Thank You and Have a nice day

Greetings,
New build, could be almost anything.  Without knowing more about your system:

Test with wired mouse/keyboard
Try with one stick of RAM, also test all RAM
Test with different video card or onboard with vid card out
Verify health of your PSU
Reseat mem, CPU and video
Check CPU and memory sockets for damaged/bent pins

Make changes one at a time between boots/testing.  Enter BIOS, let sit, test for freezing, power off and move on to next test.

This is going to be something related to hardware or compatibility. Others may have additional feedback.

Thank You for yr advise
My system is running Win 8.1 (64Bit). Boot up and working with Win 8.1 is OK with display and audio.
This should rule out problem with Memory,PSU as well as keyboard and mouse.
I used the onboard video (HD4600) HDMI port direct to a Dell (U3011) monitor.
Does the type of video out used (displayport/HDMI/DVI/VGA) affect BIOS setup display?
TQ

Greetings,
In my experience BIOS setup is not affected when you use onboard video (any interface) as long as the monitor is cable of supporting the native resolution of the GPU/port, in this case the iGPU on your i5 processor.  If it wasn't supported, you would likely see a blank screen or a "out of range" message on the monitor which comes from the monitor, not the video out from the board.
