I need the community's urgent assistance.
I have been a total plonker today when I removed AMD Catalyst. (The Center process was consuming CPU. I had recently replaced a AMD Radeon graphics card with a Nividia one and I did not think I needed this thing any longer.) Half way thru the uninstall process, I realized from the status messages what I had done. I still had the Gigabyte installation files so I ran the setup of "motherboard_driver_amd_chipset-win7".
The reboot afterwards went fine - kind-of. Mouse and keyboard were unusable. I managed to get in (thanks to MS for the soft keyboard) and the Device Manager flagged up all USB devices.
I did not check what the complaint was at the time. I just thought "I have the USB drivers. I re-install." So I ran the Setup.exe and the installation process finished w/o a problem. But then Windows kicked in and tried to install the drivers for the hardware, it failed.
When I now look at the Properties of the "Etron USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller" in Device Manager, I get "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
Any suggestions on how to recover from this disaster are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
PS: I would add that I also have a non-functional "VIA USB eXtensible Host Controller" in Device Manager. A VIA driver is reportedly installed. But the error message is the same as with the Etron controller.
