GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK First time Overclocking
« on: February 14, 2015, 04:08:57 am »
So, I recently learned that the memory I bought for my new build will require me to OC my CPU to get it to work. You can see the troubles I was having in this thread: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=15688.0

Anyway, like the title says, I've never Overclocked CPU before, and was wondering if anyone had any videos, or articles to read that they would suggest. Or Software even?

Here's my system stats, just in case:

CPU: Intel I7 4790K
Cooler: Coolmaster Hyper EVO 212
RAM: G.skill Ripjaw 2X 8 DDR3-2133
GPU: MSI GTX 970
PSU: Seasonic X Series 750W (Gold)

I think that's all the relevant stuff...

Thanks!

I too have had problems overclocking....My system is close to your, and I have tried easy tune and also within bios.  If I set the overclock to 4.4 and up the ram speed to 1800 the machine crashes and will not even boot.  Even at stock values I have to turn off hyperthreading in order to render something in blender.  If it is on, it will crash.
