970A D3 Rev 3.0 - Sleep problems
« on: July 01, 2015, 12:39:36 pm »
Using the latest stable bios FD, sometimes (about 1 in 5-10 times) the computer won't wake up properly from sleep. I can hear the fans spinning, but the screen is blank, it is like no signal is being sent to the monitor. A hard boot is the only way to restart the PC.
Alternatively, using the beta bios FEf, the above problem is solved, but another one is created, the one described in this thread http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=15472.0. Prior to sleep my Cooler Master Hyper TX3 cpu fan is spinning in the range of 1200-2300 rpms (idle/full load), but after waking up from sleep, it is spinning in the range of 500-1100 rpms (idle/full load), dangerously overheating the cpu in the case of running it for some time with full load.
Can you please address the problems of the sleep function? In its current state it is not worth using it.

Update:

Apparently, the problem with the display not turning on with the latest stable BIOS happens by just using the "turn off display" power option in windows.

So now I'm left using the beta bios to have the "turn off display" power functionality usable, but not using the sleep function so as not to fry the cpu.

All you can hope for is a fix and this long not using Sleep - Gigabyte apparently lost the plot with their "quality" of (AMD) bios updates.
