Which OS do you use?
« on: March 26, 2010, 06:21:47 pm »
Just interested in which OS members are using.

If you dual boot you can vote for both systems

If you change your OS you can also change your vote.

Nice pool absic115, congrats for the idea!  :)

P.S. Why you locked this topic? I think everyone should have the opportunity for reply - for example to give his / her comments on the OS being used
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

Hi,

Why you locked this topic?

Well...... I was trying out how to set-up the poll in the Test Forum section and, once I had locked it, I found that I couldn't go back and unlock it! To be honest, I hoped that it would be moved here and unlocked. Thanks!!!

See.................. All good things come to those who wait.  ;)

I’m very impressed with the new Win7 O/S.
However, I do feel Microsoft could offer better value for money.

For example, Win7 Starter is really limited.
I realise that business is business, but come on MS!

I agree that Windows 7 is very good, I'm running Ultimate on my main PC and Home Premium on my Laptop. But I really think Micros*** could have made it cheaper, especially for all of us that did so much Beta testing with VISTA!  ;D

I am running Win 7 64 bit Home Premium on my laptop, Win 7 64 bit Ultimate on my main machine and Win 7 32 bit Ultimate on my older computer. I didn't like Vista at all and stayed with XP until the latest release of the OS. I am very impressed with it so far, a few minor niggles but hey even Micro$oft cant get it right all the time ;D They could definitely make it more affordable though especially over our side of the pond!

Have been running XP more or less from day one on several budget computers split between the family, have just built a higher end win7 gaming computer for my teenage son, if the £90 spent on win7 HP gives what must be the thousands of hours of service that XP accomplished then the initial cost of the OS almost becomes insignificant in comparison to the hours of use.
Strange but after all these years I still grieve for that old Gigabyte motherboard that took everything I threw at it, maybe in some backstreet second hand shop we will be reunited.

Even though Win XP was great and I myself carried on using it through the Vista fiasco I must admit I am happy now with Win7. It is the first time I have made the full transition to 64bit and I like it alot! 8)

I've voted for XP and Win7/64 but I have a home server running on Linux, the XP computer will be on Win7/64 when it is replaced.
The computer that is on Win7/64 was on Vista32, I could say the biggest load of horse muck I have ever bought but it doesn't even qualify as a full load, all those that bought Vista should have got a free replacement of Win7.

Bill.
