Z97X Gamin 3
« on: July 21, 2015, 02:59:08 pm »
I have had this board for almost a year and I have to say that I am VERY much unimpressed with the Killer networking feature. This is supposedly 10/100/1000 according to the specs on this MB but, The software that comes for the Killer device says that it is ONLY 100mbps, how come? also, whenever I add the latest build of the Killer software, it changes my gateway setting to be the same as my Network setting and cannot be changed.

What are you connecting this NIC to?  If that is only 100mbps, then this is all you'll get even though the adapter is capable of 1000mbps.  More information will likely help.

I will add to what shadowsports is saying that your internet speeds. From anybody today here in the USA you
will never go over 100 mbps download speed at this time. That is why maybe it is only supporting 100 mbps.

Plus people worry about their download speeds that when you download something. I have never seen any thing download at more than 3 to 5 mbps. Your hands are always tied to who you are downloading from.

The other thing is that who ever you getting stuff if the up load speed is only 6 to 10 mbps. That is what you are going to get. Yes I understand what you saying if it supports 1000 mbps. The software should support it.

Till they fix the upload speed every body is screwed no matter how great your killer stuff is.

I have a gigabit network.  My device connects at 1000mbps, but I won't get this speed because actual vs. theoretical throughput varies.  What you are connecting the NIC to matters.  I think I started with the driver off the MB CD, but I believe I got a driver update somewhere along the line.  :)

Your GW and IP cannot be the same, if it were, you wouldn't have a routable IP.

Better answer?  Is your NIC connected to a device that supports gigabit Ethernet?  If yes, I can try to help you determine why its only negotiating at 100mbps.  If it not connected to a gigabit capable device there is no "better answer".

Cheers  ;)
