GA-P55M-UD2 F7 and IDE Optical Drives with Win7 64bit

Hi,
I'm having trouble with IDE optical drives on my new build.  I've tried two.  Disk won't eject (both), first drive took ages to recognise disk inserted.

Scanning the web forums, I'm not the only one.

Anyone else found a solution, other than buying a SATA drive?

GA-P55M-UD2 F7
Windows 7 64bit
SATA drives set to AHCI
GSATA set to IDE (I think, can't remember 100%)

P.S. What is GSATA2 and why is it there etc?
I connected my faceplate eSATA and external drive bay cables to the GSATA header and my single internal HD to the SATA header.

Is that ok?

Thanks for your help.
