Z170X Gaming-5 m.2 drive not visible in bios with sata set to raid

I setup my m.2 drive as my boot drive for windows 10, and I want to set up a raid 1 with 2 hdd's in sata ports 2 and 3.

However, when I set the sata mode to raid in the bios, from AHCI, the m.2 drive disappears.

The chart in the manual doesn't make any sense, the instructions are very poor for which sata ports get turned off with the m.2 drive present.

How can i setup a raid with 2 hdds, and have my m.2 ssd as the boot drive?
