X58A-UD3R Fails to post
« on: April 03, 2010, 01:55:41 pm »
Just built this system with i7 930 and 6 gig of Hyper 1866 memory.

The problem is it fails to post no beeps, all that happens is the cpu fan starts and stops every few seconds continuously.

Tried different gfx card - same thing.
pulled from case and built on desk - same thing.
tried all the ram combinations - same thing
reseated processor - same thing
replaced PSU - same thing
replaced cpu cooler - same thing.
cleared cmos - same thing.

My guess is the mobo's gotta go back for replacement.

Any ideas?

it could be the power connection issue.

there should be some LED indictors on the board? can you check you connect main power supply and CPU power supply correctly?

Today I have the same problem GA-X58A-UD3R and different RAM  (GOOD RAM 2 GB PC3-1060 GR1333D364L9/2G)  :'(
LEDs shine and off every few seconds continuously, cpu fan starts and stops every few seconds continuously .

I took out all modules of memory and the computer turns on, LEDs shine but without restarting and cpu fan starts and stops continuously.

Could this be a memory problem?

If I change any hardware, my ud3r seems to reboot twice(cpu fan starting/stoping) before successfully posting,..., however
I haven't had that problem for awhile, but I purposely bought 1.5-Volt G.Skill memory, (for another system, but instead I stuck these on my UD3R) and everything has been working fine so far for moderate OC'ing,...
However, I don't want to beliitle this issue either, or steer anyone wrong ?

Looks like I almost solved the problem with my motherboard.

I went to a technical service center and then we tested it with another power supply, another video card, checked once a socket for the presence of bent pins - and the results were the same - the same cyclic rebooting during the post tests and unsuccessful attempts to reach at least until the BIOS setup . Then I asked to find a different memory module. They brought in a module (Kingston 2 GB DDR3 1333 MHz) set it and to my great happiness I heard a beep of successful completion the post test and saw the Gigabyte splash-picture on the screen .

On Monday or Tuesday I'm going to buy the same memory modules (Kingston 2 GB DDR3 1333 MHz) and run my system at home. So this was a problem of incompatibility of memory modules with the motherboard

One more thing: if you take out all memory modules and run the system for some reason no longer beep-alarm on this board as it usually should be on the motherboard (beeper was attached). This fact confuse us and we really thought that the motherboard is damaged. But not..

Could it be that the kingston ram that worked succesfully required less voltage? Therefore the machince was able to boot??

No, voltage the same - 1.5v on GOODRAM  and Kingston modules. And yes with new Kingston DDR3 1333 system stable and bootable  :)

Just set up the computer a couple of weeks ago.  Worked fine until this past weekend.  I was working on a short video file and got a BSOD.  Rebooted, but the Computer would not P.O.S.T. Reset the bios on the back of the motherboard, but that didn't work.
Then Sunday morning I took out the CMOS battery, waited one minute and replaced it reseated the memory and all power plugs to motherboard.  CMOS was reset and computer booted fine.
Monday evening, All I get is the Gigabyte splash screen and it never goes any further.   Tried resetting CMOS and replacing the battery again, but nothing works now.  Does this indicate a bad motherboard?

Do your fans spin when you try turn on the computer? Sounds more like a power supply issue to me.

Yes fans are running and verified connectors are plugged in securely to motherboard from 700 watt power supply.

Try disabling power saving options in BIOS under advanced CPU configuration settings. I think its called something like C1E and C3/C6/C7. If that does it then its your power supply !!!
