Hello all,
I have not long installed the Corsair H110i GTX cooler in my system so I decided to do a bit of overclocking. I was looking for a modest OC so I decided to go for 4.5GHz and decided on a maximum CPU VCore of 1.45 volts.
I turned off APM, KPM and core boost in the BIOS and set LLC Medium and left everything else as is. CorsairLINK set to Quiet Mode.
Started with 4.8GHz (24.00 multiplier) and booted fine but was not stable in testing.
Reduced to 4.7GHz (23.50 multiplier) and booted fine. Passed IntelBurnTest (std) but failed Prine95 (SmallFFT) quickly.
Reduced to 4.6GHz (23.00 multiplier) and booted fine. Passed InterBurnTest (Standard & Very High). Passed 2 hours of Prime95 (SmallFFT) and AIDA64 Stability test (Stressed= CPU, FPU, Cache, Memory and GPU) and passed OK. The max temps = CPU - 46/48, MB - 30/31 & GPU 74.
Time to reduce the Vcore until CPU becomes unstable. Reduced (several steps) down to 1.4 volts. Failed Prime95.
When my system is running a 23.00 multiplier giving 4.6GHz with VCore set to 1.4125 and LLC set to medium and its passed IBT up to Very High, Prime 95 (small fft) for several hours and AIDA64 stability test (inc GPU for max heat in the case). When I run Prime95 (blended test) it fails within the hour.
My Temperatures are as follows:
IntelBurnTest [Standard] - CPU @ 43, MoBo @ 32 (degrees Celsius)
IntelBurnTest [Very High] - CPU @ 43, MoBo @ 32 (degrees Celsius)
Prime95 for 2 Hours [Small FFT] - CPU @ 44, MoBo @ 31 (degrees Celsius)
AIDA64 for 1 Hour[CPU, FPU, Cache, Memory & GPU] - CPU @ 48, MoBo @ 36 & GPU @ 72 (degrees Celsius)
What do you think? Any advice?
I am running stable at 4.5GHz (22.50 multi) with 1.4125 volts with multi hours of running Prime95 (Blended) with temps of: CPU: 42 degrees C and Motherboard: 32 degrees C.
Thanks
