Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 EU - HDMI problem.
« on: January 25, 2016, 09:59:17 am »
Hi! I have a problem with booting the system using onboard HDMI. (sorry for my bad English)... The problem goes this way... When i connect my TV (Toshiba 42XV550 it's a Full HD 1920 x 1080p with 3x hdmi (1.3a) ports.) to motherboard(Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 EU) using HDMI (2.0) i have nothing... no bios post screen / no windows loading .. nothing. but if i connect it to other TV's ( i tried it with several tv's ... they pick up instantly. tried monitor (dell u2410 - it's a 1920 x 1200) it's works fine... i have tried diferent cables.. deleting drivers, different bios settings etc. MAYBE there is a solution to that? maybe i missed something it bios settings (i have tried various options..)
Right now i'm running system using Graphics card (GeForce 8800 GT) it's connected using DVI to HDMI cable. And the problem is with cold start. I need to reset bios settings using onboard button Clear CMOS - 5 or 6 times to load the system and show me BIOS POST screen. And after that system works fine... as long as i won't turn it off... if i turn it off same story. i need to Clear CMOS.
I use latest Bios version and have installed all drivers and updated hdmi firmware...
is there a solution? to run it using onboard graphics card ... or fix cold start problem with 8800 gt

You might have to try a older HDMI cable. On the cold starts it could be the video card causing the problem.

I have tried 3 different hdmi cables when i tried to connect (motherboard to TV)
1) One was original xbox 360 hdmi wire ( they have hdmi 1.3).
2) Some cheap chinese wire... it's not marked but it worked with playstation 3 and other devices...
3) Also a noname chinese wire. it worked as well with other devices.

maybe there is a way to use Integrated graphic card ?

Oh and i tried different graphic cards. They both started instantly... without bios reset...
I used :
1) GF 8600GT from XFX (with passive cooling system) - when i entered system the resolution was 800 x 600 ... after reinstaling drivers system did't picked it up and i was unable to change resolution.
2) GF 8600GT from ROG (with passive cooling system) - when i instaled drivers it worked fine for some time. When i watched a movie - it was a full hd it froze and picture disappeared but sound went on with hiccups ... after restart bios beeped and would not show any thing on screen... after bios reset system booted as usual but when windows loaded there were a lot of artifacts on screen...

So i had to plug the old graphic card - 8800gt... and today it froze during video playback as well....
