Z170x UD5 TH debug led error 51

Z170x UD5 TH debug led error 51
« on: May 08, 2016, 06:41:25 pm »
My new Z170x UD5 TH is showing the error 51 on the debug led. The memory I have installed is G.Skill TridentZ F4-3200C14Q-64GTZ in 4 * 16. I am running it at stock I think that is 2133. I have updated the bios to F5 and am running in UEFI mode. I now realise that the memory is not on the compatability list. As far as I can tell it is running perfectly with the operating system Ubuntu 16.04 saying all the memory is recognized.

What is the error and is there any setting I can change to correct the error.

50~55 Memory initialization error occurs. They are in your book and do your self a favor use 2133 using the faster memory really isn't going any fast then 2133. Now that is up to you if you want to run the faster go for it. We have seen a lot of problems with these board and faster memory.

It says 50-55 memory initialization error, but it doesn't give any more detailed info. My memory appears to run fine, I know the memory isn't any faster, surely running it at the slower speed will help. The ram box says 14,14,14,34 I think my ram is running 2133 with 15,15,15, ? settings perhaps if I set it to 16,16,16,? it will not have these errors ?

This is the memory I run and the only reason I'm running it is I got it at a very good price on it. I only paid $170.00 for it. Plus all I did was set the XMP and it was running.

Plus I have the same memory on a Evga X99 board and again it runs great but only 16gb.

I tried changing to 16,16,16,36 but still error 51. I am keeping this memory it seems to work with no issues, hopefully gigabyte will issue a bios update that solves these issues.

My board also shows 51, all working fine too at 3200Mhz.

Hello,

I'm only running Ubuntu 16.04 at the moment, it can't return from suspend. I know there is an issue with Ubuntu 16.04 returning from suspend, but I don't know whether that's my problem or whether the error 51 is to blame ? What os(s) are you running, and can it return from suspend.

I'm on Windows 10 only and never use any kind of power saving feature as I want max performance, stable voltages and less startup strain on my components. :)

There are issues with the i7-6700k when it comes to power states, check the BIOS and try with only C0/C1 enabled, disable all the rest (C-States).

My LED shows 04 now, if I change something in the BIOS memory related / CPU it will go back to 51.
Power off, PSU off, turn on it will go back to 04.

I am running an i7-6700k so perhaps that's the problem. I use suspend just while I'm not there I think it would put less strain on the components if anything. I have a Samsung 950 Pro NVME m.2 disk so it doesn't make much difference than a regular boot to be honest.

According to the manual there is no 04, sure it's not D4 PCI resource allocator out of memory.

I would say 04 as that is what a 7 segment LED display shows plus there is nothing wrong with the PC or any of my devices :) (I have had everything in another brand motherboard too, definitely works)

Start up voltages, anything when you turn on / off will cause a surge.
Heat cycles, on to off start causes more fatigue on the actual components. If you leave things on you will get closer to the MTBF rate as oppose to power cycles throughout its life.

I just got this board a couple days ago and I was having the same error 51 problem.  I read on Amazon from a review that it is caused by Thunderbolt being enabled.  Once I disabled Thunderbolt that error went away.  I believe also that O4 has to do with the fast boot feature.  I did a minimal amount of testing on this but disabling fast boot in windows and the bios will result in booting to AO (which I still don't know what it means).  I guess O4 signifies it's booting from fast boot file or something.  Someone in another forum said it better than I did.

If anyone can help on what AO means I'd appreciate it.

i also got this error from a week now, and when that happens my system will boot very slowly and almost freezes up when i have to put the password. otherwise i have 04 displayed.
i have 16 gb drr4 Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 Vengeance LPX 3000mhz (currently running at 2133) CL15 and my os is on a samsung 850 evo 250 gb
