GA-X58A-UD3R rev1 and PSU Fan
« on: July 03, 2016, 04:18:29 pm »
Hello,

I have a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (rev1) for many years with an Intel Core I7 920 and an Asus GeForce GTS 250.

I recently decided to replace the video card by a new one because its fan started to have some issues. So I bought a cheap Gainward GeForce GT 730 which didn't require to be connected to the PSU (the GTS 250 needed it).

Unfortunately, with the GT 730, my PSU fan turns at full speed all the time (with an incredible noise).
If I remove the GT 730 and replace it with my old GTS 250, everything return to normal.

Did someone else already have this kind of trouble ?

Moreover:
- my PSU has a cable for its fan so I also tried to unplug/plug it to the PWR_FAN connector of the motherboard without any change.
- I was never able to make my case fans working by plugging them of the SYS_FAN connectors. Is it normal ?

 Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can you tell us more about your hardware.  What is the make and model of the PSU?

Please CLR_CMOS, use defaults ans see if this resolves the behavior.  If you have made any changes to the Fan Speed Control setting is BIOS, or are using any Gigabyte Utilities in the OS fpr Power Management, this might cause the Fan speed of the PSU to run at full speed depending on temps or load.

Thanks for your answer.

So, I tried to clear the CMOS and use the default BIOS settings without any result. Moreover, I have never changed the settings of the fans in the Bios or with any over utilities.

My PSU is a EnergyMax Liberty ELT620AWT, it is supposed to deliver 600W.

I also tried today another video card (GTX 950) which has a 6pin connector for power. The PSU fan still turns at full speed most of the time.
