Should I change my motherboard?
« on: November 27, 2016, 06:31:54 pm »
Hi, I have a question about my motherboard (GA-P67A-D3-B3).
I'll change my i5-2300 for an i7-6700k so I don't know if it will work well
And I'll change my RAM of 4GB (I don't know what MHz have, maybe 1333MHz) for a 16Gb 3000MHz.

Should I change my motherboard? What do you recommend to me?

Thanks  :D.

The i7-6700 will not work in that board. Your board is a 1155 and the that CPU is for 1151 board. If you still want to use your board and want to use a i7. It is all in which one you want to use.

If you use the 2nd generation i7 CPU you might not have to any thing other install it. Now if you use the 3rd generation i7 CPU you will have to do a bios update to F7.

If you want to use the i7-6700 you will have to buy a board that supports that CPU Z170 series board. Plus you will have to get DDR4 memory too. Something at the speed of 2133. Don't waste you time on the faster memory you not gain any thing in speed.
X299X Aorus Master, i9-9940x-3.30Ghz, 64gb G-Skill DDR4-2400, MSI RTX-3070 8GB, Cooler Master case, Thermal-take PSU 850w, 1-M2-NMVe SSD-512gb, 3-Pny 1TB SSD, 2-WD Raptors 1TB, Win 10 pro 64bit, Asus 35" 144Mhz Monitor.
