GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R (Rev 2)

Hi I am new to this so i will do my best.
I have just fitted a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R (Rev 2) 1366 x58 into my machine as an upgrade
and installed 6 sticks of..HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Total 24GB
they appear to be working fine but my question is i thought i read an article how you should set the speed to match the board???
that's all i can remember can someone tell me if i am imagining this or you should do this thanks for any advice..

You CPU only really supports DDR3 800/1066. Plus on the Gigabyte site on the specs Support for DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules. Yes they will run but you might only get 1066 or 1333 out of them. 

Try running at default settings first 1066. Then try changing the memory multiplier to run 1333. If everything is stable then try the multiplier to run at 1600.

Plus you might have to over clock your CPU a little to get them to run at 1600. Plus you will more likely have to set them manually speed and timings too. Sorry I could have help you. But I just sold my board that was like yours.

Look on page 44 in the book it will tell you some what how to do things on you memory. You can try to set the XMP to profile 1. Then save & exit then it will reboot.

Now if it didn't like it then it will reset it back to default. It might say something like the cmos memory was OC wrong error.

If that didn't work than you can set the System Memory Multiplier to 1333 or 1600. Try Multiplier 10 to see what it says. Multiplier 12 I think is 1600. Now what is the volts of the memory and is it showing the same volts in the bios.

One other thing when i just went into to bios settings on boot up i had a big red message informing me that the board had crashed and something else due to overclocking and something else i didn't read it properly like an idiot is this anything to worry about??

no every time i go to bios i get The system has experienced boot failure because of overclocking or changes of voltage... last settings in this page may not coincide with current H/W states.

Hi there,

not exactly sure why you are getting this message in BIOS. If it's any consolation, I have experienced this myself on several different motherboards and, whilst bloody annoying, once the system boots I have experienced no ill effects. I have managed to stop this in some cases by.......

Loading Optimised Defaults in BIOS and running the system that way. (No tweaks to BIOS until I have been sure the thing is running correctly.)

Re-flashing the BIOS.
I have discovered that the system will occasionally behave with this error, after some Windows updates. Re-flashing the BIOS can sometimes eliminate any errors that have occurred.

Just as an aside, I have an ASUS motherboard that despite my best attempts, will throw up an overclock error every so often. This is despite the fact that everything is running at default. However, I do suspect that and older SSD maybe the cause of this as, when I remove it from the PC, the system seems to POST/BOOT without error.

Hi Guys still having problems it was all running pretty well and was happy until today when it reset and rebooted after that i had no usb 3 drivers working i removed the usb 3 in device manager as you do and reinstalled the drivers it says they are there but when i plug anything into them it says this would run faster if you used a usb 3. but in manager it says they are there. now in manager  i have
Renasas usb 3 host and root hub in i now have a unknown device that says Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
i have no idea what this is.. anyone have any ideas??

GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0) is there such a thing with Gigabyte a program you can run to check your drivers are all there and ok? I have stripped everthing off my machine and done a cmos to start again but i still have the unknown device in device manager.. So i would think it is something i have missed or something i have no idea.. thanks for any help..

Most of the time you have run the USB 3 driver twice. Go back into device manager and update the driver from there on the unknown device. Find the driver for the USB 3 and run it.

Thanks i have just checked with a program called " unknown Device Identifier " and now that has shown a shed load of em!! And i don't know if this one is USB3..

If you do it from device manager and if you try to load that driver it will say it is the right or wrong one. Every time I have loaded the USB 3 driver. I have had to install it twice. I have build 100's of computers.

Thanks my USB3 drivers are in now but i still have the same unknown device......
