You can find the QVL list for this motherboard here: http://b2b.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2658#qvl

My GA-3CESL-RH (rev.1.1) won't even boot with quad cores.  It  runs fine with two 3.0 GHZ dual core CPUs.  My guess is that quad and hex core CPUs need dual plane CPU sockets, and mine doesn't have 'em.  I "dunno" about rev. 1.4 mobos.  Mine is awfully fussy about memory too...

The Rev 1.0 board was only designed to use the Dual core Operton CPU's, whilst the 1.4 will take the Quad core versions.

Most motherboards are fussy when it comes to running RAM. The best advice to offer is to try and get sticks that are DDR2 533/667 Mhz and, if possible, matched kits. Although the boards should take DDR2 800 Mhz modules, at the time these boards (both Rev 1.0 & Rev 1.4) were released, these modules were not actually available so I would avoid trying to use them.
