X58a-ud7 has memory issues?
« on: May 01, 2010, 03:02:09 pm »
At my company we bought the UD7 mother boards, 17 of them to be exact and all are only showing 4gb of ram out of the 6gb installed.

The ram is OCZ PC3 1600 gold series 2x per stick.
I have searched the web and found over 7,000 posts on this issue, but after browsing through 2 days worth none seemed to have an answer, do these boards just not go over 4gb?

Also I have upgraded to the latest bios version.

If it makes you feel any better we purchased almost 30 of those boards and all could not go over 4 gigs of ram.

Our issue is we use a program called unigraphics and it requires 8 gigs on board.....so all 30 had to go back, do not rack your brains over this...even Gigabyte has no solution and forum people will tell you you must be running 32 bit windows or your cpu is not seeded right, so you will get no help there either.

Again, the bios will never see more than 4 gig, so just dump the motherboards now.

I am out here looking for a soution to another problem with one of the 4 front office Gigatheybyte boards we have left, once we replace those we will be gigafree :)

I am on my 2nd Gigabyte X58-UD5 and lo and behold, it will not recognize more than 4 GB when 6GB is installed. After thoroughly troubleshooting by re-seating the CPU, checking for bent pins, running memtest (all DIMMS passed), booting one DIMM at a time, I concluded yet again my center channel (slot 3) is dead, as was the case on my last board.

I am in process of getting another RMA.

In contrast, I booted my old Dell PC which I am using now, and never had motherboard issues with it. I guess that's because it was actually tested before packaged and distributed to the purchaser.... ::)

I have just built up a system with this motherboard and a i7 920 chip. It runs fine with 6Gb(3x2Gb Corsair Dominator 1600) ram and Win7 64 bit. The only problem I had was the original(750w) psu wasn't powerfull enough and I had to go up to a Corsair HX850. My friend also has this board and is running 12Gb(6x2Gb) with no problems. We are both using the F6 bios.
