GA-990XA-UD3 rev3.0 - 1 long and 3 short beeps
« on: May 10, 2017, 10:44:41 am »
Hi there,

when I open my PC I get 1 long and 3 short beeps or 1 long and 2 short beeps, I can't be sure...because the first short beep happens exactly after the long one, but it's definitely one of these two, we will narrow it down to one, with the rest of the story I hope.

And also there is no signal to the monitor.

So long story short, I tried another graphics card, and everything worked fine, so I thought my graphics card was dead. But the next morning, it did the same, with the same graphics card that it had worked last night.

I downloaded the manual for this mobo, but there isn't a list of what the different beeps mean as far as I checked.

My system is:

MB: Gigabyte GA-990XA UD3 rev 3
CPU: AMD FX 8350
RAM: Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B VENGEANCE 8GB (2X4GB)
PSU: Corsair RM750X 750W
Graphics card: Sapphire Radeon HD4850X2 2GB (the one I thought was dead)
SSD: Samsung 850PRO 128GB
OS: Linux Mint 18 and Windows 7 Professional (in different partitions)

And the graphics card I tried and worked for a night, MSI N440GT MD1GD3/LP

So I guess the first question I have to ask is what do these beeps mean for this mobo.

Thanks in advance

That's either the memory or gpu. I would suggest switching your pc off, removing them, clean the contacts with a lint free cloth and insert them again, making sure they are fully seated in said slots.
